Reminder:
Illinois requires all public high school seniors to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, if applicable, the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid as a graduation requirement (Illinois School Code 105 ILCS 5/22-87, Sec. 22-87).
A parent/guardian must file a waiver if they choose to opt a child out of this graduation requirement by completing the Nonparticipation form; students who are least 18 years of age or legally emancipated may complete the form themselves.

A. SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
The SAT is a college entrance exam used by many colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. Its purpose is to measure a high school student's readiness for college.

B. ACT (American College Test)
The ACT is another college entrance exam accepted by most colleges and universities. It measures students’ academic skills in english, math, reading, and science reasoning. In Illinois, students are required to take the ACT during the spring semester of their junior year, and it is a graduation requirement.

C. Advanced Placement (AP) Tests
AP Exams are offered in a variety of subject areas and allow students to earn college credit or advanced placement based on their scores.
At our school, AP tests are available in AP English, AP Calculus, AP World History, AP U.S. History and AP Biology.

D. PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)
The PSAT/NMSQT serves as both a practice SAT and the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students with top scores may qualify for recognition and scholarships.
African American students may also become eligible for awards through the National Achievement Program.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a multiple-choice test that measures reading, writing, and math skills important for college success. It is recommended for juniors but not required for college admission.
