Dear Sports Booster:
The Comets Sports Boosters Club is seeking members.  If you are not familiar with our Club, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.  The Comets Sports Booster Club was founded in 1997 out of concern for the many unmet needs of our sports teams.  In light of ever-increasing costs to our sports programs, and endless cutbacks in the budgets, we are dedicated to providing additional opportunities to the student/athlete at the high school.  As a Club, we aim to support all 15 athletic programs.
The Comets Sports Boosters Club has been very active in the past few years.  We are committed to giving each sport $500 per year, for coaches to purchase extra equipment and items that are not provided by the school district.  In addition, we have awarded two annual scholarships of $500 each to deserving senior athletes.  The Club has also been involved in several major projects including the purchase of a sound system in the gymnasium, upgrading of the tennis courts, construction of the softball field, purchase of a lighted scorer’s table for the volleyball and basketball games, renovation of the press box and bathrooms at the football-track complex , the development of a permanent soccer field named in honor of long time Booster, Tom Doll, and  purchase of a “Message Board” in front of the High School gym.  The latest project has been the purchase of a utility vehicle for use of outdoor sports programs.
Annual fund raising events have included a food stand on Homecoming Day at the courthouse and football field, 50/50 drawings and “Comet” merchandise at football games, and concessions at JV/Freshmen Football games.  Additional fundraisers are scheduled during the year.
We invite you to become a member of The Comet Sports Booster Club.  Donations of $250 and above will receive a District Family Pass which provides admittance for the entire family to all sporting events in the district (does not include Tournaments or IESA/IHSA Regional/Sectional Events).  Other levels of membership are explained on the back of this letter.
We encourage you to join us at our monthly meetings, which take place in the high school cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month from August-May.
If you can assist us, please return the membership form, found on the back of this letter, along with your check.  For more information, contact Chad Nelson, Athletic Director at 664-5580.

Thank you for your support,

The Comets Sports Booster Club
