Professional Development
With the new Illinois Professional Teaching Licenses, updates were made to the professional development process. CPDU's (Continuing Professional Development Units) were renamed CEU's (Continuing Education Units) and qualifying activities were clarified. Teachers are required to earn 120 units per 5 year cycle and to enter their activities and units as they earn them into ELIS.
"The sole purpose of professional development is to increase educators’ knowledge and skills specifically to impact student growth, achievement and wellbeing."- Illinois State Board of Education This document provides examples of allowable professional development. Additional activities may be reviewed and approved by the district, as a professional development provider, if all criteria are met and aligns with the district’s improvement goals and plans. |
